Drew-
Each movie seems to have taken about a day to play out. Unless I'm mistaken, hoffman could have set up the last game, with the five people, a few days before it took place. I'm sure there is some sort of sedative that would knock someone out for a few days, I'm not a doctor though :)
Or.... it could be a future accomplice of whom has not been named yet. Remember that the final scene in the timeline is Hoffman listening to his tape from the autopsy. Since it suggested that he too will be tested then there has to be another accomplice... wife maybe? Who knows!

Just got back from seeing SAW 5. I love the idea of the series and admit that the intricacies in the first 3 installments were what really had me hooked, but 4 confused me and 5 simply left me hanging high and dry. It so evident that the writers of 4 and 5 are different. Their intention is clear from 4 that they were just out to complicate the plot and create their own piece of 'Saw'. I did like the gadgets and hostage scenes in 4 but I feel that 5 didn't do the series justice. It was too mediocre. There were so many flaws in 5 that just irritated me.
Eg, the first scene (supposedly before all of the other deaths) is obviously injected after the fact and not thought of during the overall idea of saw, because it leaves holes in the theory of the jigsaw killer. It also isn't very convincing because the jigsaw killer wasn;t really a prominent idea at the time the murder supposedly took place. Also, if Seth was one of the first then it should've been mentioned somewhere in the first 1 or 2 as a hint to further info, this really indicates different writers and different styles. The next thing that got me was when the cop revisists the old jigsaw scenes, logically they should not have still been there. If they were scenes of infamous 'murder' scenes the police would have destoryed them and not let remnants for people to revisit, like the barbed wire cage? Hello...serious hazard for sicko fans of Jigsaw and possible copycats. It's just illogical that they were still there. In the scene where it flashes back to Jigsaw and Hoffman meeting a few things are poorly written. First, we know Jigsaw is an intelligent men...yes? However within the span of about 3 sentences he uses the word inferior twice, a man of his intelligence, and a character written by the original writers surely wouldn't have done this. Irritated me a bit. Second when speaking about redemption, Jigsaw says that people who go through his games come out completely redeemed or whatever and Hoffman should try using his justice. The problem with this is that we only really see one person survive his games through the series and re-appear, and she went totally off the rails and had to be taken in by jigsaw cause his game obviously didnt work. I just think that this is another inconsistency created by the second group of writers which doesn't much up with the original flair for writing that the first writers did.

There's a few more things that irritated me, but i think you all probably get my point by now. Sorry if you don't agree, but like i said before, I don't think this installment did the series justice at all. I do give the writer's props for coming up with something like this and having a go at finishing off the series, I could never write anything like this. But for me 5 just wasn't as shocking and disturbing and had too much storyline and not enough gore. Number 4 was good with the gore and all the gadgets and gismo's but it was way too confusing. Leading number 5 with too much explaining to do. Not for me.

That said, I love the series, i'm just a much bigger fan of the first 3. I just felt a bit disappointed and irritated by 5 and I think some other people will be too.
